Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Companion Animals

Veterinary services for our clients and their pets:

As you are likely aware, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) now has human cases here in our area. As time goes on, there may be further changes regarding “social distancing” practices.  To make sure that our pet patients have access to uninterrupted health care, we will continue to be available for their medical needs and will remain open during normal hours and are continuing all patient services including surgery and boarding for your fur babies.  We have instituted stringent sanitizing procedures between each client visit using our medical-grade disinfectant products and not over the counter products to ensure our staff and clients the best safety.  As the situation is fluid, we will adapt to make sure this remains the case.  To minimize contact with others and prevent the spread of coronavirus, we are moving to curbside service only. Please call us from the parking lot once you arrive for your appointment and we will walk you through next steps. Regardless of the situation, we will do whatever is necessary and within our power to make sure the highest standard of care remains available to your dog or cat family members.

Please remember that if you are feeling sick or displaying symptoms of respiratory disease, please do not come to the clinic.  Contact us via phone or email so we may help you with your pet’s issues.

When you come for your appointment please bring your own pens to sign your credit card slips.  This is to ensure the safety of both you and our staff!

Dogs, cats, and the Coronavirus:

As of March 2020, we have not been made aware of any documented infection of dogs or cats with COVID-19 where illness has developed or transmission to other animals or people has occurred. A single dog has been reported with a weak positive test result in Hong Kong but no signs of illness. For the most accurate and up to date information regarding companion animals and the Coronavirus, we encourage you to visit the American Veterinary Medical Association’s website, here.

Idexx Laboratory, an international laboratory, has developed a COVID-19 test for dogs and cats. They have tested thousands of dog and cat blood samples and have found no COVID-19 in any of the samples tested.  If it were ever to mutate into the pet population rest assured a test is readily available now!

Please continue to check back on our website for new updates to our policies and protocol, should they change. Feel free to reach out to us at 469-250-5170 with any questions or concerns you may have.
